The Great Schools Trust is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Kath Oldfield, Assistant Principal at King’s Leadership Academy Liverpool, who has once again demonstrated what dedication and passion can achieve both in and outside the classroom.
Kath has recently completed an extraordinary cycling season, culminating in her being crowned 4X Pro Tour European Champion after her final race in Germany. This victory adds to an already remarkable list of accomplishments: she has successfully retained her title as World Champion, and also earned the title of National Champion, meaning she will proudly ride in the national jersey next season.
In addition to these impressive titles, Kath placed third overall in the National Series, an impressive achievement in a demanding season. Across ten weekends and fifteen races, including several challenging downhill events, Kath consistently finished on the podium, securing a top-three place in every single race.
Reflecting on her season, Kath shared how rewarding it has been to balance her professional and athletic pursuits: “The students often ask about the races they’ve seen on YouTube, and it’s lovely to know they’re interested. I think it’s good for them to see that alongside teaching, you can have passions outside the classroom and still achieve success at a world level.” Kath also extended her thanks to the school’s Principal Scott Cordon and Associate Principal Helen Marcroft for their continued support and encouragement.
Kath’s dedication to her sport and her role as a teacher exemplify the Trust’s vision of developing leaders of character. Her success is not only a personal triumph but also an inspiring example to the students at King’s Liverpool.
